Two days, two columns

The sheet is A4 at 595.28 by 841.89 points, which is the paper standing upright. The seven day planner is landscape because seven columns need the width; two columns do not, so this one turns the paper the other way and spends the space on depth instead. It is titled Weekend planner, Saturday and Sunday, and both names print in full.

The day count is ignored

This sheet does not take a number of days. A weekend is Saturday and Sunday. A three day version would be a different sheet and a five day one would not be a weekend at all, so the day count that governs the weekly planner has no effect here and the sheet stays at two columns whatever it is set to. That is worth saying out loud rather than leaving a control on the page that quietly does nothing.

What is not on it

No dates, no month, no year and no times. It is a blank weekend, which means it is not spent after the weekend it was printed for; the same file prints again a fortnight later without being redrawn. Five words of print is the whole of the text on the page, so there is nothing to cross out and nothing to correct.

Names in full

Saturday and Sunday are printed whole. With only two columns there is no pressure on the width, so nothing has to be shortened. On the sheets where a column is too narrow for a name, the name is abbreviated and the type is left at its size, since reducing the lettering to fit one heading reduces it on every line underneath as well.

Black only

Everything is drawn in black. A sheet whose meaning depends on colour comes out of a mono printer with that meaning stripped out, the distinctions flattened into grey, and there is no knowing which printer a sheet will meet. Nothing here is keyed by colour, so what is printed is what was drawn.

Written in the browser

The PDF is written on this page. The measurements go into a geometry engine that lays out the two columns, the lines and the box and writes the file byte by byte in the browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is licensed from anyone, and there is no hosted template behind the page waiting to be sent. Adjusting the sheet does not fetch a different file; it draws this one again and writes a new one, so a change on screen and the file on disk cannot drift apart.
